My Question of the Day for 13 September 2010 – UPDATED

-

My Question of the Day: Going green is a big deal these days. People all over the planet are recycling and trying to reserve our natural resources. How would you feel if you painstakingly separated your recyclables from your regular trash and you looked out the window to see the sanitation workers dumping everything together in the back of the garbage truck, even though you know there’s a separate truck that normally comes around for all the recyclables?

My 2 Cents: I actually saw this happening one morning when I looked out the window.

I was very annoyed, because I’d taken the time, over several weeks, to sort that stuff out and put it in separate containers to make it easier for the guy who comes around with the recyclables truck. He must not have been available that day, or maybe they were having problems with the truck, but I was not happy to see them doing that.

My first thought was to report it to the homeowners’ association, since that garbage pickup company is contracted by the association to collect trash in our neighborhood, but I decided not to, since it was the first time I’d seen them doing that.

If it happens again, I will report it. Right now, I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt since I’ve been living in my neighborhood for over seven years, and I’ve never seen them do that before.

My Question of the Day for 05 March 2010 – UPDATED

-

My Question of the Day: Many people around the world are very serious about “going green.” The idea is that every little bit helps. When you buy groceries, do you ask for paper or plastic bags?

My 2 Cents: I have the fabric bags, but when I forget to take them to the store I always ask for plastic bags. Plastic bags have handles, which (like a couple of your said) makes them easier to carry. I, however, try really hard to remember my fabric bags.

Take a few moments to check out the tweets from Twitter on this subject:

Please note that I will be picking winners for the months in 2011 that have not been done yet. I've gotten behind, but I'm a woman of my word. Beginning, 01 January 2012, there will only be one winner per month, and that one winner will receive a $30 Amazon gift card. For the months in 2011 that still need winners, there will still be two, $20 gift card winners. The change will take effect starting 01 January 2012. See details.
