Date Question
It seems that young people fail to realize what they do today can come back and haunt them in the future. That being the case, what (if anything) should be done about teenage “sexting” (sexting is “sexy” text messages that can include semi-nude or fully-nude photos with or without explicitly-written content)?
As it stands right now, your life isn’t so bad. You’re not necessarily doing what you’d like to do, but you’re doing pretty well with what you’re doing. Then, BAM!!! You have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to drop everything and take a CHANCE on your dream life/lifestyle. The catch is that win or lose, make it or fail, you CANNOT return to your current life/lifestyle. What do you do?
Your second-grader gets suspended from school for saying something totally vulgar and inappropriate to his/her classmates within earshot of a teacher. You are livid about the suspension and about your child’s vulgar and inappropriate language. When you get your child home, and after you’ve calmed down a bit, you ask your child what on earth possessed him/her to say such a thing. He/she looks at your with a bit of confusion and says, “I heard you saying that to so-and-so on the phone. I didn’t know it was bad.” What do you do?
One line in the lyrics of a song says “everybody’s got their something.” Many of us have that one (or a few) thing(s) without which we feel we can’t live (or life would be less bearable ). What, would you say, is your “something(s)?”
Many people around the world are very serious about “going green.” The idea is that every little bit helps. When you buy groceries, do you ask for paper or plastic bags?
When single parents decide to date, when is it appropriate for them to introduce their child(ren) to  the person they’re dating?
For several years, you’ve been preparing for, what will be for YOU, a once-in-your-lifetime competition. At this moment in time, this is your only shot at fulfilling your life-long dream, and you’re ready, primed and heavily favored to come out the victor. A few days before the big event, someone near and dear to your heart dies unexpectedly. What do you do?
Which emotion do you think is stronger: love or hate?
If you had no choice, and you had to move from the state in which you live now to another, to which other state would you move?
When you are at home, you’re in the habit of leaving loose bills and change on a small table near the door where you put your mail. It’s never more than a few dollars and a few coins, and you live alone. One day a friend comes by to visit. You all decide to go out shopping, and you all are getting ready to leave the house. As you approach the door, you realize you’ve forgotten your cellphone in your bedroom, and you tell your friend you’ll be right back and to wait by the front door. You get your phone and head back. As you’re approaching your friend from the bedroom, you see him/her scoop up the bills and change and put them in his/her pocket. What do you do?
You were the victim of a viciously, savage attack, which you survived. All of your physical scars healed and are no longer visible, but the emotional scars continued to control your life. The police devoted many hours trying to bring your attacker to justice, but the heartless predator wasn’t caught. In an effort to move on with your life, you went through intensive and extensive therapy, clung to loved ones who gave you overwhelming support and encouragement, and you got your life back after a few years of hard work and dedication. Little by little, you put the entire event behind you, and now you’re leading the best life you could possibly imagine. 20 years after the event, a detective knocks on your door and says the police department has new evidence and there’s a better-than-good chance that they can bring your attacker to justice. The detective tells you that some of the paperwork from your original statement was ruined in a storage room fire, and he/she needs you to recount the entire experience in order for the police department to proceed. What do you do?
Your company has rewarded you, and several other employees, with an all-expenses-paid, five-day cruise. You’re very excited about going until you find out the dates. The cruise will be at the end of October going into the beginning of November. There is only one person you trust enough with whom you’ll leave your child(ren) for five days, but you and he/she have a difference of opinion on Halloween. You don’t allow your child(ren) to participate in the holiday, but he/she does allow his/her child(ren) to participate. He/she agrees to keep your child(ren) while you go on the cruise, but he/she has made it clear that his/her child(ren) will be going trick-or-treating, and he/she won’t be leaving your child(ren) home unsupervised while he/she takes his/her child(ren) out for the evening. What do you do?
You’re on public transportation during heavy rush-hour traffic. When you got on the bus/train, you were thankful there was one, empty seat left. You’ve got a long ride ahead of you, and you’re glad you don’t have to stand the entire way. After sitting there for a few minutes, you realize why the seat was vacant. The person in the seat next to you is listening to his/her mp3 player at maximum volume, and you can hear every lyric, even though he/she has on headphones. You find the lyrics highly offensive, and after a few stops you look around to see if there’s somewhere else to stand or sit. There isn’t. Everyone is packed into the bus/train, and you can’t even stand up where you are without bumping into the person who’s standing directly in front of you. What do you do?
Niccolo Machiavelli said “It is better to be feared than loved, if you cannot be both.” So many people claim that they fear nothing and noone these days that I’m going to remove “fear” from the equatoin. My question to you: is it better to be loved or respected, if you cannot be both?
Caring for a child with special needs can be overwhelming in so many ways—emotionally, physically and financially. If you were allowed to do so, would you put your medically-fragile child in a nursing home?
Blended families have become more and more common over the years. One of the biggest questions children have is what to call their new stepparent. Should you require your child(ren) to call his/her/their new stepparent “mom” or “dad”?
Even if you enjoy shopping, waiting in line is almost never fun. Imagine you’re at one of your favorite stores during its busiest time of the day. You’ve waited patiently in a long line to purchase two or three items that are going off sale today while other people in front of you seem to be buying out the store. As you’re approaching the cashier to have your turn, someone rushes in front of you and says, “I’ve only got these two things. You don’t mind, do you?” What do you say/do?
Dealing with health issues isn’t easy for the person who is unwell or the people who love him/her. Imagine that a close relative/friend has been chronically ill for many, many months, but he/she didn’t tell anyone or ask for anyone’s help or support. One day, at what seems out of the blue, you’re close relative/friend is hospitalized and not expected to leave with his/her life. How does finding out that he/she has struggled with his/her situation all alone all this time make you feel and/or what do you say/do at this point?
How does having/not having healthcare affect your life?
In a society obsessed with youthfulness, have you ever found it to be a disadvantage to look younger/older than your actual age?
You’re on a popular auction site looking for a particular item. By chance, you come across an auction of someone you know—a close relative, actually—and this person is selling an item he/she borrowed from you months ago for a family function and never returned. The item is an antique family heirloom that has been passed down for many, many generations, and you have irrefutable, written proof that it belongs to you. There are several bids on the item, and the latest bid is for over $10,000. What do you do?
Your supervisor has asked everyone to review a report submitted by one of your coworkers and note any needed revisions. Although you have never had any problems with this coworker, he/she has not been at all receptive to the suggestions made by others in the office and this coworker has expressed the idea that everyone is just nitpicking and “out to get me.” Not only do you find errors in the content of the report, but you also find several spelling/grammar/punctuation errors. Knowing the previous reactions and comments from this coworker, what do you do?
Many people can appreciate a good joke. Imagine you have a close relative or good friend, whom you really enjoying being around most of the time. One of the things that bothers you about your close relative/good friend is that he/she thinks it’s okay to tell sexist/racist jokes as long as no one from that particular gender/ethnicity is around. These kinds of jokes make you uncomfortable, but in the past you’ve feigned amusement so as not to hurt your close relative’s/good friend’s feelings. As of late, the jokes are becoming more and more mean-spirited and seem to be getting more frequent. What do you do?
