S/he seemed like a friend…

-

My Question of the Day: Some of us may know one or a few actual celebrities, but many of us just know of them from the work they do. With that in mind, what celebrities have passed away and you found yourself as upset and/or crying like s/he was a good friend or close acquaintance?

My Question of the Day: Imagine your supervisor comes to you and explains a very difficult situation that the company is facing because several high-level executives took a risk that didn’t pay off. S/he says to you that in order to buy a little time they’re looking for a new face to speak to the shareholders of the company and give a scripted speech that embellishes the real earnings for the quarter, even though the earnings are much less. Your supervisor assures you that by the next quarter the earnings report will be valid and back on track, but they have to keep the shareholders in the dark a bit longer so that they don’t panic and start selling their stocks. You supervisor guarantees that nothing will come back on you if there are repercussions for fudging this quarter’s figures. S/he also tells you that the higher-level executives have approved a hefty raise for you and a paid-out-upon-agreement bonus if you will help the company through this difficult time. What do you do?

With this ring…

My Question of the Day: In a traditional wedding ceremony, the exchange of marital vows usually includes the exchange of wedding rings. Over the last several years I’ve noticed that more and more married people, especially men, even when they don’t hesitate to make it known that they’re married, do not wear wedding bands. Is this something that you’ve noticed, as well? If so, and even if you haven’t noticed it, what do you think of this “new trend”?

My Question of the Day: Imagine a person you’ve been friendly with for many years has a baby. You don’t necessarily consider this person a close friend, but you have gotten to know a little about him/her over the years, and you’ve even spent a few hours here and there with this person. You’re happy for your acquaintance, and you send a gift for the baby and you include a card of congratulations for the new parent(s). A few days later, you get an email from your acquaintance asking you to be the godmother/father of his/her newborn. What do you do?
