I want a Kindle because it would be the perfect intersection between two things love to do: read and review books for my website.
I’ve seen people with Kindles, and they absolutely love them. They are small, lightweight and can easily hold a bunch of books. (I’m talking about the Kindles, not the Kindle owners…) That would be perfect for me because I can easily whip it out and make progress on books on which I’m behind almost anywhere I have a free moment.
If I win, this will be my first ebook reader. Plus, it will help me read the books I love.

Travelling and reading are my two favorite pastimes. Exploring the world, considering new ideas, and expanding my mind, imagination, and consciousness are invaluable to me. Someone once said that to change how you live, you must change what you know that we live our knowledge, so we must strive to increase our knowledge. I agree with that someone. We must read, study, learn, and understand. With a Kindle, I would have an easier time reading as I travel.
Currently, I take every chance I get to read. My reading list consists of hundreds of books so I try to read any time I have a free moment. I read on MARTA on my way to and from work. I steal away at lunch and read as I eat. In the evenings, I read before I go to bed. Sometimes, I focus on one book, but in any given time frame, I may be reading 3 or 4 books at one time. That’s where the usefulness of a Kindle comes in. Instead of lugging around 3 books at a time, I’d be able to stow away this device and read as many books as I want at my leisure. When I travel to new places, I will be able to read my books without adding extra weight to my luggage. I can just put my Kindle in my purse! How convenient for a book lover like me! Winning a Kindle will make my pastimes even more enjoyable!
Essay #3
I want a Kindle for reasons that are very clear. I was against it. I have always been a book person. I mean a hard page, bind bending, dog earring book person. I never thought I’d buy books electronically until I tried it once. When I did I realized that I was meeting the same friends, otherwise known as characters, that I was meeting in the hard back books and saying goodbye to them in the end. I was still crying, laughing and going through the journey without having to actually turn the pages. So what difference did it make if I couldn’t show off my library to my friends? I always ended up selling my books anyway due to space along with always having to dust them off periodically. With the Kindle I can have thousands of books inside of a small portable gadget and delve into the lives of characters and take them around with me wherever I please. I can jump into the many worlds and become an armchair traveler right from my local coffee shop. I also noticed that I can read many books at once since I don’t have to have many hard back books open simultaneously. I thought I would miss turning those pages and bending that binding. Turns out, I don’t. All that being said, I became a believer. Who would have thought?
Essay #4
I want a Kindle because it’s so beautiful, on many different levels.
Kindle specs include integrated wi-fi, sixty-second downloads, e-ink graphics to reproduce “paper book look”, without ripping dust jackets, carrying heavy hardcover editions, or dog-eared pages (people who borrow books should be FORCED to use bookmarks!).
Portability is also a major factor – Kindle specs say it can hold up to 3500 books. Sounds perfect for a word addict like me. Honestly, I read so much and so often, that each trip to the library or bookstore is at least 2 books, sometimes even 5 books within 2 days. Then, with my messy bookshelf and my curious teen, it becomes hard to find the book I want (did you see it, did you move it, I wanted to read it now)). Then in a rush I leave empty-handed, or with a book I already read. Those 85 issues of the latest pharmaceutical literature in the doctors’ waiting room start to look interesting.
My final reason I want a Kindle: this past week I began the admissions process for college. After graduating high school in my teens, and becoming a mom in my twenties, and now in my thirties I know what I want to do “when I grow up”. With the Kindle, I can get digital editions of my class textbooks and keep them with me at all times, to study in between classes or during the commute.
HELP! I want – almost need – a Kindle.
