My Question of the Day: Should a child (someone under 18 years old) be allowed to refuse life-saving medication without his/her doctor(s) or parent(s) having the right to override the child’s decision?

I don’t think it’s legal, but I think that if this “life-saving” technique is just another experimental exercise that the child has already been thru enough of, I think that child should be able to voice his/her opinion to his/her parent and let the parent refuse treatment if that child’s life has already been thru the ringer and there’s not much hope of a LIFE afterwards.
Otherwise, no, I don’t think a child under 18 should make such a decision by his/herself.

LikeDislikeNo, I don’t think so. There’s a reason we have an age of majority. Generally speaking, the younger you are, the less capable you are of fully analyzing the full ramifications of a particular decision.* Are there older people with the same problem? Absolutely. Are there people under 18 able to “get it”? Absolutely. But we can’t make a general rule based on the exceptions.
*There have been studies that show that teenagers’ brains are not sufficiently developed to make the kind of judgment calls parents often expect of them.
