If you don’t ask, you definitely won’t get one! If you deserve it, you should ask — even if its just to show yourself and your boss that you know your value.

LikeDislikeIf I worked in private sector I wouldn’t have a prob asking for raise but alas it’ll take a legislative act for me to get a raise so I’m mastering my budgeting skills.

LikeDislikeAs independent contractors, most of our companies are cutting the amount that they’re paying. There’s no way that we can ask them to raise it. They’re just trying to cut costs.

LikeDislikeWell, on my job there is no “asking for a raise” option. I work for the county. But, one time, I did ask for a raise and boss lady was like, “I can’t help you. Your salary is determined by the County judge (or whomever). Sorry.” So, with that answer, I’d be more reluctant to ask for a raise because of an answer like that, rather than asking because of the state of the economy.
