My Question of the Day: Many of us have heard it said that tomorrow isn’t promised to any of us. With that in mind, do you make it a consistent habit to show and tell the people closest to you that you love and/or care about them?
My 2 Cents: I can’t say I’m as consistent as I’d like to be, but I’m doing much better than I used to do. Over the past several years, I started telling my immediate family members I love and appreciate them. It was always something that was unspoken between us all, but I decided to begin saying it and showing it, not just showing it. Now when I talk to my sister and brothers, I end the conversation with “I love you,” and they reciprocate. It’s the same with my parents.
I’ve also, in recent years, made it a habit to tell everyone I love them, because I actually do love every person, even if I don’t like their ways. Love is unconditional. Like is optional. Love is a part of my DNA.
When you read this, know that I love you.

I try to, but I don’t always succeed. In the hustle and bustle of today’s society, its easy to forget to let people know that you appreciate them. I try to make sure that my girls know I love them. I tell them every night before bed. I never got that growing up so I want to make sure my kids have no doubt that I love them.

LikeDislikeI definitely do, especially after the unexpected loss of my grandmother about 5 yrs ago. She was the closest family member I ever lost and it really made me think about mortality. Every phone call ends with ‘I love you’.

LikeDislikeAs best I can. The rule I live by, which may sound a bit harsh, is simply this: death may strike at any instant, such as the next. Do what is deepest in your heart, guided by your mind and faith, and learn from every faulty step you make.
So, yes, I try to tell those closest to me I love them before all other tasks. But practically, it is not always so feasible. Reality has this annoying way of impinging with its own demands. ;^)
