My Question of the Day for 26 March 2010 – UPDATED

-

My Question of the Day: In a society obsessed with youthfulness, have you ever found it to be a disadvantage to look younger/older than your actual age?

My 2 Cents: According to others, I look very young for my age. As a 41-year-old woman, I’ve been told, just recently as a matter of fact, which is what prompted the question, that I look about 25 or 26, if that old. That’s a shock, because I’m overweight, and extra weight usually makes you look older. I can’t imagine how old people are going to think I am when I lose these extra pounds—and I’m losing these extra pounds. :)

I can’t say it’s been a disadvantage to look younger than my actual age, but it has been a nuisance at times. As a trainer, training other adults, some of my students look at me like, “You can’t possibly know what you’re talking about. You’re a baby.” I always make it a point, in my introduction, to make it clear how much age I do have. :) Only twice have I had students refuse to believe me until I showed them (both were men) my driver’s license.

I’m thankful for what God gave me in every area of my life; even in looking younger than my age. It’s all a blessing to me.

Please note that I will be picking winners for the months in 2011 that have not been done yet. I've gotten behind, but I'm a woman of my word. Beginning, 01 January 2012, there will only be one winner per month, and that one winner will receive a $30 Amazon gift card. For the months in 2011 that still need winners, there will still be two, $20 gift card winners. The change will take effect starting 01 January 2012. See details.
