Get A Room, Why Don’t You?!?! or Go to Jail

-

Couple hugging and kissing on the beachI found this article on CNN.com.

A British couple in Dubai—him there for business, her there for pleasure—are out of jail on bail and awaiting trial after being arrested for kissing and touching in public. This type of behavior, along with drinking alcohol in public places in Dubai, are violations of the law. The following is a quote from the article:

“Expats need to know that no matter how modern and open-minded this country is, it’s an Islamic country,” said Heike Moeckel, a cultural consultant at Embrace Arabia, an Abu Dhabi-based, Emirati-owned company providing cultural training to expats and Emiratis alike.”

Black-Market Medication Marauders Milking Millions

-

Empty Pill BottlesMany of us have heard this question: Is it wrong to steal medicine for a sick child if you don’t have the money to buy it? Well, some folks are answering that question with their actions.

According to an article I read on NewsOn6.com, thieves are stealing millions of dollars worth of prescription drugs and selling them on the black market.

The following is a quote from the article:

Pharmaceutical heists in the U.S. have quadrupled since 2006, a coalition of industry and law enforcement estimates. And experts say the reasons include spotty security and high drug prices that can make such thefts extremely lucrative.

My Question of the Day for 18 March 2010 – UPDATED

-

My Question of the Day: Niccolo Machiavelli said “It is better to be feared than loved, if you cannot be both.” So many people claim that they fear nothing and no one these days that I’m going to remove “fear” from the equatoin. My question to you: is it better to be loved or respected, if you cannot be both?

My 2 Cents: If I cannot have both love and respect, I would choose to be respected. I can accomplish more in life by being respected, even if I’m not loved or liked. If I’m respected, people believe I have honor and integrity, and maybe they will grow to like and then love me. Then again, maybe they won’t, but I’ll still have earned their respect.
