Neither. I bring my own bags. I would always forget to bring them with me in the beginning, but committed to buying new ones when that happened. Now we have almost 20 and I rarely forget. It took a few months to build the habit.

I use cloth bags when I remember them. But now I need to buy bags for my trash. The real question is "Why don't the stores all use organic bags that will decompose in the landfills, and stop using so much plastic packaging.

When I neglect to bring my own bags, I remind myself they're sitting in the back of my car. Since I started using them two decades ago, it feels pretty inexcusable to be so thoughtless.

Of late, I accept what I get, and recycle them.

Hello from my heart to yours...I try my best to carry those reuseable cloth bags that are becoming somewhat popular today. My problem sometimes...I bring them in with the groceries and forget to take them back out to the car...so now I am working on having 20...that way I should always have a few in the car...Bee

I can't recall seeing paper bags at any of the grocery stores I shop at. Even if they have them, they never offer. I do see more people using the cheap cloth bags, but that would never do for people that shop like twice a month. That's a lot of cloth bags.

On the other hand, we don't just throw grocery bags away. They get used as trash can liners, diaper disposal units, we separate large packages of meat into them for storage in the freezer, etc.

I feel like I am going green by nixing the bag, if it's just one item and carrying it in my purse. I also like to reuse the plastic bags in my home on a regular basis.

I get paper bags form Whole Foods, but plastic from other places. However, I do reuse all of them. The plastic ones are used as liners in all the trashcans in the house and the paper ones are used to collect recyclables under the sink and in the attic (the bins are way too big). I have two huge recycling bins that I fill every week. I also switched to BPA-free reusable bottles so I could stop buying individual water bottles.

I still use plastic bags and I reuse them for trash, diapers, etc. But I'm seriously thinking that I need to pony up and buy some of the reusuable plastic bags.

i am DEAD serious about being green. i belong to several environmental organizations and write to my Congress people very often about various environmental issues. currently i have 3 recycle bins that go the curb completely FULL every week. i only have to roll my garbage bin out to the curb every 3 weeks, ( because i make every effort to recycle *everything* , leaving very little "garbage" to dispose of.

thermostat stays on 68 in the winter and never varies except for when i'm not home, then it goes to 57. summertime i refuse to turn the air conditioner unless i have company over, as i want to see the comfortable. otherwise one fan blows. lights are only allowed on if ur in the room, if ur not in that room and the light is on u get fussed at,,,,lolol

I use plastic, and still drink from plastic water bottles. I'm sure that means I am responsible for the Earth's demise.

I actually have recently moved to a nicer area of town and noticed a lot of people using the fabric bags and I fully intend on doing the same (understand where I used to live, they didn't like you to bring any bags into the store). All I can do is improve on what I have done.

Bottled water. That will not change anytime soon. The tap water where I live does not taste good. I have considered the refillable 5 gallon jugs, but I still would bring water bottles to work. We do recycle the bottles at work which does make a difference.
