Yahoo! Email: How Can I Turn Off the Social Media Features?

-

Yahoo! LogoI can’t tell you how annoyed I was when I opened my Yahoo! email and found that they were attempting to make it function like a social network.

I don’t want to deal with social media in my email account. I can do that from true social media tools.

It took me some searching, but I found how to turn off all that nonsense. I’m posting on my blog, just in case others are interested in doing the same.

It’s actually quite simple once you figure out Yahoo!’s “clever” wording. Um.

Do the following:

1. Log into your email account and find Options in the top right-hand area:

2. Uncheck Enable Connection-related features…:

The position of Options is in about the same place whether you’re using Yahoo! Mail Classic or the new layout of Yahoo! Mail.

That’s it. That will turn off all the like-social-media features, and you’re back to email as it should be.

My Question of the Day for 04 March 2010 -UPDATED

-

My Question of the Day: One line in the lyrics of a song says “everybody’s got their something.” Many of us have that one (or a few) thing(s) without which we feel we can’t live (or life would be less bearable :) ). What, would you say, is your “something(s)?”

My 2 Cents: I’ve have to say my somethings are books and gadgets.

Take a few moments to check out the tweets from Twitter on this subject:
