Beware of Your Vitamins: How Can They Make You Sick or Even Kill You?

-

I’ve recently started taking vitamins again. My goal this time is to stick with it and not forget to do so on a consistent basis. I purposely did not say “daily basis,” and you’ll see why shortly. I always seem to do well for a few days and then I forget to take them or I remember but don’t have them. I plan to be more diligent, though, because I know I need them.

Something I learned years ago about vitamins, and what I’m sharing with you in case you don’t know, is that vitamins are put in two categories: water-soluble and fat soluble.

This is very, very important to know, because taking too many fat-soluble vitamins can cause toxicity in your body and even kill you if not dealt with.

Long story short…

Water-soluble vitamins are not stored in the body once your body takes from them what it can use, and they can be consumed daily. Whatever we don’t need is expelled in our urine.

Fat-soluble vitamins are stored in the tissues of the body (and the liver) and can build up and up and up, and shouldn’t be consumed on a daily basis. Any excess we don’t expel and can become toxic in our bodies.

This information just my save your life or the life of someone you know.

Short story long…

Please note that I will be picking winners for the months in 2011 that have not been done yet. I've gotten behind, but I'm a woman of my word. Beginning, 01 January 2012, there will only be one winner per month, and that one winner will receive a $30 Amazon gift card. For the months in 2011 that still need winners, there will still be two, $20 gift card winners. The change will take effect starting 01 January 2012. See details.
