The Question: You see your best friend’s spouse hugged up and passionately kissing someone else. What do you do?

My 2 Cents: If I see my best friend’s spouse hugged up and passionately kissing someone else, I’d first make my presence known without letting on how I know my best friend’s spouse. I’d then ask to speak with him/her privately. I’d asked him/her to call me within the next two or three days. Once I got that call, I’d ask if there was any way I could help, because there’s obviously something amiss in the marriage. Depending on what s/he says, I’d proceed from there.

My first instinct would not be to tell my best friend about the situation. That’s not to say I wouldn’t eventually tell him/her, but I’d have to get way more information before I’d be willing to get into the middle of a couple’s marriage. You have no idea what’s going on in people’s houses, so a rush to judgment may be the worst thing you can do for your best friend and/or yourself.

I’d proceed with much caution in this area.
