My Question of the Day for 12 January 2010 – RESULTS

-

The Question: You’re driving alone on your way home on a clear night and out of nowhere it begins pouring down rain to the point you have to slow your speed considerably. You’re on a two-lane street, so you pull over to the lane closest to the sidewalk and notice a woman caught out in the downpour with no umbrella, pushing one child in a stroller and balancing another child on her hip. What do you do?

My 2 Cents: It’s night and I’m alone. My first consideration would be my safety.

In a drenching downpour, what looks like a woman with two children may not be a woman with two children. I’d follow my spirit. If I felt at all hesitant about opening my car door, I wouldn’t do it. If, however, nothing is my spirit was nagging me to keep it moving, I’d stop and give the woman a ride.

By the by, I’ve found myself in this situation more than once. More times than not, I’ve given folks rides, even if it was a man walking alone. If my spirit isn’t unsettled about offering assistance, I offer assistance no matter who it is or under what circumstances.

Take a few moments to check out the tweets from Twitter on this subject:

Davis itbtcDavis  I’d offer her a ride. The kids did it 4 me, otherwise she would have been sol.

tony danso ankomaguy  i can’t give her a lift for some reasons so, i will call 911 and get her a help.

Gloria A NightShade10  Never had happen but did pick up a senior citizen in the cold was walking and took her home (would offer a ride or phone call)

Jason Stover TankaBar_JasonD  I would give them a ride to where they needed to go just for the kids.

Tomi Clark tclarkusa  I’d prob give them a ride or at least offer her an umbrella. I usu. have one in my car.

The Stiletto Stoner Quintessence_T  oh i’ve done this plenty times–i’d pick her up & carry her where where she needs to go-(would hope some1 wud do the same 4 me)

Vicky BLKMGK  I’ve had this happen to me. I offer them a ride.

Joshua Gibson JoshDamage  offer a ride without hesitation, a woman with two kids doesn’t exactly scream danger or kidnapper ya know?

lt md20737  I pray its not a scheme to kidnap me and let her in.

MICHELLE GAINES Suezeta  It would be heartless not to insist that she get in the car and take her where she needs to go….Also a moral responsibility to find out if everything is ok and is it anything she may need besides a ride.

Please note that I will be picking winners for the months in 2011 that have not been done yet. I've gotten behind, but I'm a woman of my word. Beginning, 01 January 2012, there will only be one winner per month, and that one winner will receive a $30 Amazon gift card. For the months in 2011 that still need winners, there will still be two, $20 gift card winners. The change will take effect starting 01 January 2012. See details.
