My Question of the Day for 28 December 2009 – RESULTS

The Question: Is “re-gifting” a bad thing?

My 2 Cents: “Re-gifting,” like many other resourceful ideas, can be a good thing and a bad thing.

When people abuse the practice, then it’s a bad thing. Giving other people junk you don’t want is never a good thing, but passing on treasures you simply can’t or don’t use may be a blessing to someone else.

As @XPhile1908 says, if the “re-gifting” is done with thought and care, then it is NOT a bad thing.

———-

Take a few moments to check out the tweets from Twitter on this subject:

———-

Tamara Walker nyprdiva  Re-gifting is not a bad thing. If you can’t use it or don’t want it why waste a gift?

PROTECTED TWEETER YES! If you didn’t want it what makes you think the next person does. lol

PROTECTED TWEETER  Nope, not at all. If you can’t use the gift, perhaps someone else can! Your trash may be someone else’s treasure.

Thelma Baker ThelmaBaker  No better than going to waste

Kimberly Davis KDavis  Re-gifting is not a bad thing. It’s a great thing. Better than letting unwanted gifts languish and clutter or throwing away…there are only so many cinammon candles a girl can take!

Shanae ImABlackPoem  regifting is ok, i think it’s best 2 give things like tht up 4 charity. i wouldnt regift an ugly sweater 2 my mom lol

PROTECTED TWEETER  nothing wrong with re-gifting.. I’ve done it.

Pettra Tyus-Mapp Pettra88  Nope! It’s the reason your “cup overflows” …to give to others.

Stephanie Hargrove shargrove  “Re-gifting” is not a bad thing; after all it is now yours & you can do what you want with it.

PROTECTED TWEETER  No, long as you dont give it back to person who gave to u! Better to pass on than to sit unused or end in rummage sale!

Natalie P. McNeal frugalista  regifting when applied the right way isn’t a bad thing!

Shuno shunodashow  yes it is, shows no thought or effort

Gloria A NightShade10  I can’t “re-gift” – but have donated to charity some things that I just couldn’t find a use for

Missy blacknthick  I think its ok to re gift at least your putting it to good use

Rasheedah IamRah  No re-gifting isn’t bad. It’s better than letting something collect dust in ur closet unless it’s just a useless gift…

Winnie M. Peric Winnie4u  Re-gifting is done all the time, whether good or bad :-)

Kitty B™ KittybTM  absolutely not. You were given a gift to do WHAYEVER makes u happy & if u believe someone else will love it… Give it =D

Chela chela816  Not if it’s actually a good gift but just not your style. Why waste it?

MsShana MissMeandI  not if you don’t give the gift to the same person who gave it to you…or someone they know

Joshua Robinson soulrebelJ  I regifted for a good cause- some1 who was left out- & the original giver complained. Regifting is greatness.

Aqiyl Qasim consciousskillz  No, someone else may appreciate or need what we may not.

Angela Brneyed1  Ive Regifted B4

intellectual{fish} intellectfish  its called being resourceful lol

XPhile1908 XPhile1908  not necessarily…so long as it is done carefully and thoughtfully, to bless another with something you couldn’t use.

R. A. Mills AbayKamau  Definitely not. Just don’t give to someone who knows the “originator”

Fawn N. Rhodes ItsThaTarheeLdy  Definitely not!!

Atane Ofiaja atane  Regifting is tacky.

Brijh brijh  I’m not sure if it’s a bad idea to re-gift or not, yet, sometimes it’s just necessary, darnit! :-) We’re in a Recession….

Daniel Walker walkerdl  No, as long as the original gift-giver doesn’t know

Keith Anderson suredoc  Only if you get caught.

Derek DerekIsNormal  Absolutely not, especially if you have something you’ll never use but know someone that will.

Kristen West QTKrisAriel  Nope! Might as well let someone get some use out of it!

Andre Hadji Jones Hadji4ever  Of course not.

Robert Walker Jr sutherngeorgian  yep. why would i give my junk someone else? don’t give me that another man’s junk is another man’s treasure.

Journey LilMrsPerfect2u  Not @ all (1 mans trash is antoher mans treasure)!! Lol

PROTECTED TWEETER  I don’t think regifting is a “bad” thing if you’re smart about it. If it’s something you won’t use, why let it go to waste?

NNE-ISHADOWADDICT™ ishadowaddict  Yes

The Stiletto Stoner Quintessence_T  no it’s a blessing–one man’s junk…..u know da rest…lol

Vicky BLKMGK  No

lt md20737  NOPE

Linda Bilyeu sunshine625  No not If someone else can use it or will enjoy it more.

Jason L. Wilson iJustJason  not necessarily. I think if you’re giving a gift that THEY would enjoy more, its cool. If its just to pawn off, then no

Risha Holmes rishaholmes  Yes, I hate the idea!! Haha

Joshua Gibson JoshDamage  I don’t think so. The gift is yours so why not keep into the spirit and keep giving.

Josephine Seven Josephine_Seven  Not at all if it’s done with thought and proper intention.

The Orange Roundie OrangeRoundie  Not if you don’t get caught doing it. On a raw moral level it is questionable.

Arnetta Meekins acmeek  Hahaha! I give you a resounding NO! Just don’t give it back to me or any1 I know. Lol.
