My Question of the Day for 17 December 2009 – RESULTS

-

The Question: Does growing up in a two-parent home assure you a better future than being raised by a single-parent?

My 2 Cents: No matter how many parents you have, or don’t have, nothing assures you a better future. Life is what YOU make, regardless of the situations and circumstances of your upbringing.

Let the past be prologue and make the future you want for YOU!

Take a few moments to check out the tweets from Twitter on this subject:

———-

Camille Jamerson QueenCDJ  no. could elaborate, but simply said-there are no assurances, no guarantees either way.

Teressa Jones blujayy  no!

Teisha Houston TheBizCoach4Mom  no guarantee but the stats are better 4 those in 2 parent hsehold

PROTECTED TWEETER a 2parent household is what is wanted or expected, but doesn’t guarantee anything.

Rasheedah IamRah  No…

Reasy F. Baby! Mo_Rease  I would say that the chances are better in a two parent home but it depends on the household.

PROTECTED TWEETER I don’t think it “assures” a better future but I do think it affords different opportunities. Wish I knew stats though.

Atane Ofiaja atane  It depends on the parents. However, all things being equal, it is best to have a two parent household imo.

David Beard SPIT4Success  Having both parents makes it better for the kids and easier for the parents but it doesn’t assure the success of the child

Monica Dennis jigsawverbiage  Obama pretty much had 1 parent and Tiger had 2 so…… :-)

Monica Dennis jigsawverbiage  Good question but I sure hope the answer is no. As they say, where you come from doesn’t have to dictate where you go.

Tomi Clark tclarkusa  Not hardly. Statistics may say otherwise but I believe 1 parent/2 parents doesn’t matter as much as knowing some1 believes in u

Jeff Reneker jreneker  It raises the odds. But every case is different.

Risha Holmes rishaholmes  hard question, but I say no b/c just having two does not make it better, it could still be an unhappy home.

Shayla Givens non_cha_lant  no it doesnt especially if you have 2 SORRY parents

Josephine Seven Josephine_Seven  I would say it’s like anything else. Quantity does not replace quality.

PROTECTED TWEETER assure? no but i think chances r you will have a better understanding on life.

Stephen Jackson roaddoggz  No! You can be raised by 1 great parent or 2 lousy parents

MsShana MissMeandI  probably depends on the parents. Look at the kids who shoot up schools… 2parent homes there….Never can tell

Pettra Tyus-Mapp Pettra88  Nope. Two parent homes only implies 2 incomes.

Linda Bilyeu sunshine625  Heck no

Vicky BLKMGK  Not necessarily

Stuck stucknow  quality, not quantity. U could get stuck w/2 terrible parents.

Charles R. InAnimateAlpha  not at all. I’d take 1 amazing parent over 2 sucky ones.

Jason L. Wilson iJustJason  does is “assure” it? No. Does it make it likely, absolutely! I think ALL problems can be solved w/ a strong father

mayqueen79 mayqueen79  No it doesn’t. Either way, the way you live your life is the determining factor of your future success.

Chela chela816  It all depends on the quality of said parents. Two crackhead parents have nothing on one who inspires you to be your best

Daniel Walker walkerdl  Not necessarily. My brother & I are from a single-parent home, and we’re both married w/kids, degrees, & good jobs

Reginald Tucker EnigmaRDT  Nope! Not @ all!

lt md20737  I think not really.. It depends on the people who raise you. Its very complicated.

Please note that I will be picking winners for the months in 2011 that have not been done yet. I've gotten behind, but I'm a woman of my word. Beginning, 01 January 2012, there will only be one winner per month, and that one winner will receive a $30 Amazon gift card. For the months in 2011 that still need winners, there will still be two, $20 gift card winners. The change will take effect starting 01 January 2012. See details.
