The Question: Should driver’s licenses be rescinded (taken away) at a certain age?

My 2 Cents: I agree with what many of you said: Driver’s licenses should NOT be rescinded automatically at a certain age, but there should be retesting (written and driven) every so many years after a person reaches a certain age.

A person’s autonomy shouldn’t be snatched away from him/her just because s/he reaches a certain age. In the interest of public safety, however, retesting/requalification could save lives.

mrsxavib I think elderly drivers should be retested yearly to retain their licenses. I’ve had several elderly drivers almost kill me.

Teaguem2005 Drivers 65 and older should have to prove their ability to retain their license annually. Need to show vision exam as well

atane Only if the person lacks cognitive skills. My Dad is in his 70s, but is a great driver. Very alert.

JoshDamage No. I believe each case should be reviewed individually, and a judgment be made according to the circumstances.
