My Question of the Day: Should driver’s licenses be rescinded (taken away) at a certain age?

My Question of the Day With A Twist: Should the age at which you can obtain a driver’s license be raised?

I’ve never held a driver’s license but as a passenger and pedestrian I think that there are too many drivers (varying ages) on the road who just can’t drive. I’ve heard of individuals who take advantage of some DMVs because they know that the road test isn’t as difficult or challenging there. Maybe there should be more strict and universal requirements to pass the road test.

I agree with Angela. Age does not equal maturity, so raising it doesn’t solve anything. What could actually help would be to require better defensive driving education in order to obtain your license. It seems like any doofus with a foot and an arm can get a license these days.

I say yes, it should be raised. Having raised several teens, I know that the maturity level is just not there. I feel the age should be raised to at least 18. I think it is totally backward to make the drinking age 21 and allow a child to DRIVE A CAR at 16. JMO

The age is not the problem. Maturity is important.
Everyone who is old enough to drive are not
mature enough.

No I believe the current age is good. Raising the age limit only prolongs people from accepting responsibility from their actions. If you are old enough to drive you are old enough to think about others and the reaction to all your actions.
