My Question of the Day: Teasing is harmless as long as you are only joking with the other person. Agree or disagree?

says it depends on the perception of the one being teased as to whether the “teasing” is harmless. For friends who respect each other and BOTH agree and understand the teasing as light-hearted fun, its cool. For one individual to tease another individual with whom no relationship of trust has been established, teasing can be devasting due to a perception formed out of embarassment, confusion and mistrust.

LikeDislikeI disagree. Teasing is not harmless. On a subconscious level, our brains do not differentiate between what’s real and what’s false so to be teased can affect us. You may call me “fat and ugly” and are playing around but those words are now on my mind and I have now associated myself with “fat and ugly.”
