My Question of the Day for 30 December 2009 – RESULTS
The Question: Imagine your mother is single and tells you she is going to marry the man she believes is her soulmate. She reveals to you that her fiancé is the exact same age as YOU, and then she asks for your blessing (support). What do you do??
My 2 Cents: Traditionally, society has accepted older men being with much younger women. However, when it is an older woman with a younger man, we raise an eyebrow. Studies have shown that women mature faster than men, so it seems unnatural for an older woman to have anything in common with a younger man when studies say that a younger man is even more immature than his actual age.
Having said all that, I’d give my mother my blessing (support) in who she has chosen as a life partner. I won’t say I won’t be uncomfortable with her choice, but I’d make every effort not to be a hindrance to her happiness. When all is said and done, my mother’s happiness is the most important thing to me. She would have my full and undivided support no matter what.

Mitch_M I think this question would be easier to answer if my mother was younger; now, I’d have to lay some smack down. lol
Mo_Rease I would give her my blessings. I mean if she was happy then I would have to respect that.
NightShade10 I’m sorry whether your a male or a female, that’s rather like being a pedophile, that’s gross. I’d love her and pray for her afar
davidsbass Been there. Done that. Rudy’s only a bit older. I freaked. I doubted. I observed. I finally endorsed him. But trust …?
tclarkusa It’s mom & her life decisions are hers to make despite any uncomfortable feelings I may have I’d still support her decision
TankaBar_JasonD I would be coo with him you never know it might be for the best. I would want nothing but the best for my parents.
BLKMGK Give my blessing. A soulmate is not necessarily your same age.
consciousskillz Pray that I never find myself in that situation. lol
rishaholmes CHILD PLEASE..I would tell that man to Kiss Da baby!ewww
MissMeandI If I don’t live with my mama (or even if I did) I would have nothing to say abt who she marries, her life is her’s to live
JoshDamage before I opine let me say what an excellent ? That is. Now I wud just hope for the best and hope my dad is happy with her.

BigEd_1956 No Way!!! But I’m old school… Hehe
womprat99 I don’t believe love knows an age difference. As long as it is legal and is truly love, I support it.
nukirk Actually, that’s a BIT closer to home for me. I can’t imagine that because it happened. For the record, he was actually about 7-8 years older, but still… Mom’s died before the marriage happened. But I didn’t really care about that. All I care about is that she was happy.
md20737 I tell my momma I support you and I love you. And gone about my business. I dont think age matters with adults.
chela816 As long as I am old enough to be out of the house (ie, he doesn’t have authority over me), then best wishes to them both!
Hadji4ever I would give her my blessing! There’s a recession in men!
xsashagirl Who am I to question Mom’s destiny? I’d try to get to know the dude & hope for the best

My Question of the Day With A Twist: You and some friends drive to an event where alcohol will be served, and all the guests are drinking, including you. The event is coming to a close, and you realize you and everyone you came with was having such a fantastic time that all of you have indulged in a bit more alcohol than you or they planned. Your host has not made arrangements for people to stay over who may be too impaired to drive. What do you do?
