I guess I'll be the odd man out and say that I wouldn't have a problem with my child attending. Son or daughter, my children will already realize that this person is in a bad spot and has probably made a mistake. That doesn't mean that we should treat them like a pariah. They probably need a little support and help for their unborn child, who didn't chose to be in this situation. My kids will have enough sense to handle the situation appropriately.

On another note, I never looked at baby showers as anything but a chance for the mother to get free stuff for the child. Just because this young and soon-to-be mother isn't in the best situation doesn't mean they shouldn't get the same benefits for the child.

I don't attend baby showers for adults, I would certainly not allow my underaged child attend a baby shower for an unwed, underaged pregnant barely teenaged child. That would send a msg to the pregnant barely teen that I'm somehow happy for her, and telling my own child that I somehow am OK with the fact that one of her friends is pregnant, underaged and unwed. I don't condone any of that. And if that's me judging the poor pregnant barely teenaged child, then so be it...

My Child would NOT attend the baby shower NOR would we purchase a gift. If I allowed her to attend, that's sending the message to my Child that its ok to have Sex/Get Pregnant.

I'd hope my kid would not feel obliged to attend. We would purchase a gift, but I strongly suggest that my kid forego attending this baby shower.
