Son or daughter, my children will already realize that this person is in a bad spot and has probably made a mistake. That doesn't mean that we should treat them like a pariah. They probably need a little support and help for their unborn child, who didn't chose to be in this situation. My kids will have enough sense to handle the situation appropriately. On another note, I never looked at baby showers as anything but a chance for the mother to get free stuff for the child. Just because this young and soon-to-be mother isn't in the best situation doesn't mean they shouldn't get the same benefits for the child. That would send a msg to the pregnant barely teen that I'm somehow happy for her, and telling my own child that I somehow am OK with the fact that one of her friends is pregnant, underaged and unwed. I don't condone any of that. And if that's me judging the poor pregnant barely teenaged child, then so be it...
