Guido and his wife have a son and live happily together until the occupation of Italy by German forces. In an attempt to hold his family together and help his son survive the horrors of a Jewish Concentration Camp, Guido pretends that the Holocaust is a game and that the grand prize for winning is a tank.
This movie is so heart warming and moving.
It is Italian, subtitled, but the acting is so powerful one forgets the language is being translated, it flows.
The title song is by Achinoam Nini, a notable Israeli singer.

LikeDislikeThe Ten Commandments, (hands down). Watched it in bed with my dear grandmother. I know so many lines for that movie, silly me! Movies & Music can be a good distraction.
