My Question of the Day for 06 November 2009 – RESULTS
The Question: What is/are your favorite book(s)?
My 2 Cents: The following are my favorite books (in alpha order by title):
- Assata: An Autobiography by Assata Shakur and Angela Davis
- The Holy Bible by inspiration of God; written by men
- Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison
- Long Distance Life by Marita Golden
- My Soul Looks Back, ‘Less I Forget: A Collection of Quotations by People of Color edited by Dorothy Winbush Riley
- Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler
- Parable of the Talents by Octavia Butler
- Parting the Waters: America in the King Years, 1954-63 by Taylor Branch
- The Hills Were Joyful Together by Roger Mais
- The Temple of My Familiar by Alice Walker
- To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
- World’s Great Men of Color, Volume 1 and Volume 2 by Joel A. Rogers and John Henrik Clarke
These books get the dictinction of being my favorites, because they are titles I can read over and over and still glean new information and ideas each time. I’m never the same person when I re-read a book, so different passages mean different things to me at different times. That’s the power of good books. Awesome.
