My 2 Cents: The following are my favorite books (in alpha order by title):

Assata: An Autobiography by Assata Shakur and Angela Davis
The Holy Bible by inspiration of God; written by men
Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison
Long Distance Life by Marita Golden
My Soul Looks Back, ‘Less I Forget: A Collection of Quotations by People of Color edited by Dorothy Winbush Riley
Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler
Parable of the Talents by Octavia Butler
Parting the Waters: America in the King Years, 1954-63 by Taylor Branch
The Hills Were Joyful Together by Roger Mais
The Temple of My Familiar by Alice Walker
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
World’s Great Men of Color, Volume 1 and Volume 2 by Joel A. Rogers and John Henrik Clarke

These books get the dictinction of being my favorites, because they are titles I can read over and over and still glean new information and ideas each time. I’m never the same person when I re-read a book, so different passages mean different things to me at different times. That’s the power of good books. Awesome.
