My Question of the Day for 05 November 2009 – RESULTS

-

The Question: If you want to go to college, the only thing that could possibly keep you from going is YOU. Agree or Disagree?

My 2 Cents: We all have choices, even when we believe and/or feel like we have no choice. You don’t have to stay home and run the family business, even though doing so will keep the peace between you and the rest of the family. It’s your life, and you do have a choice. If you only care about keeping the peace, and aren’t concerned about your own future, then you will feel like you have a no choice, but there’s always a choice. ALWAYS.

If you want to go to college, the only thing that could possibly keep you from going is YOU.

Billions of dollars in scholarship money goes unclaimed each year for college scholarships, grants and loans. Every now and again there will be a story in the newspaper about a grandmother/grandfather who went back to college at 65+ to get a bachelor’s/master’s degree. Someone has to take care of a sick relative, and the lot falls to you, but there are community colleges and online colleges and classes can be taken little by little. Persons with disabilities are going and graduating from college all the time. There are people who don’t have the use of their arms and/or legs and some of them can’t even speak without the help of an electronic device, but they’re going to and graduating from college. Some people get a chance to go, mess up very badly either academically or behaviorally, but they find a way to right themselves and get back in school.

If you want to go to college, you can go to college. It may not be easy, but you can do it. It may not happen in the time frame you’d like it to happen, but it can be done. You might not get to go to the school you’ve always dreamed of attending, but there are other schools you can attend.

Only YOU can keep YOU from going of college. It all comes down to our choices.

Please note that I will be picking winners for the months in 2011 that have not been done yet. I've gotten behind, but I'm a woman of my word. Beginning, 01 January 2012, there will only be one winner per month, and that one winner will receive a $30 Amazon gift card. For the months in 2011 that still need winners, there will still be two, $20 gift card winners. The change will take effect starting 01 January 2012. See details.
