My Question of the Day for 03 November 2009
My Question of the Day: If a school system decides to allow the Theory of Evolution to be taught in its science classes, should the school system also allow the Theory of Intelligent Design to be taught in its science classes?

Seriously, how do you teach the law of conservation of mass/matter in physics, chemistry and biology with Intelligent Design?
In a closed system, matter cannot be created or destroyed, it changes one system from another, this is also the 1st law of thermodynamics.
This is NOT my opinion, this is true universally on any planet anywhere in the Universe! Also, over huge swaths of time, mass evolves into newer forms. If they don’t, these forms become extinct. No overarching creator power controls this. It is a matter of happenstance. And this is the way it is…
Will it change, depends where thoughts are in the Universe. Who knows? Who cares? The point is to be meaningful NOW!

LikeDislikeIf by ‘school system’ you are referring to grammar and high school then I do not believe Intelligent Design should be taught in schools. The Theory of Evolution is considered science with substantial proof behind it to validate it. The theory and existence of Intelligent Design is nothing more than a pacifier for those who substitute religious beliefs for critical thinking.

LikeDislikeI learned of the theory of evolution in grade school, however, I hadn’t heard of intelligent design until I was in college. As long as both ideas are presented as theories AND it’s taught in upper level courses, I don’t have too much of a problem with it.
