My Question of the Day for 24 August 2009
My Question of the Day: Should the anniversary date of American tragedies (OKC, WTC, Katrina) become federal holidays?

I don’t think any tragedy should be remembered as a federal holiday. Granted we have holidays where we remember those who died for us why not remember those tragedies at that time. Technically they died for us too. We can’t fall into the trap of remembering every tragedy.Maybe each state where the tragedy took place could recognize it its own way.I say all that with knowing that Katrina affected family members of mine.I’m from Louisiana but live in TN since 1998, and I still don’t agree with it being a Federal holiday.

LikeDislikeI think it absolutely should be a holiday to honor those we have lost. The world needs to take a moment to stop a remember those lost during these tragic events. We honor individuals why not the millions we have lost. Great questions, never thought about it.
